Cost of shipping crate full of gear to Alaska?

I will be shipping two mountain bikes, repair tools, backpacks and other outdoor gear to Alaska. The size of the package will approximately be 5’ x 5’ x 4’ ; total weight roughly 80lbs

        Three questions:

        1. What type of packaging would you recommend that is cost effective and would protect the gear (wood / cardboard / combination of both)?
        2. What shipping carrier would make most sense and/or be the cheapest?
        3. Where could I ship the package for temporary hold (one week) as I arrive in Alaska, rent a car and pick it up? Suggestions?

Any help is very much appreciated

I’ve been having at&t for a while & I’m getting really sick its customer service & the way I’m getting ripped off by them. Somehow the at&t seems to like add price on all its future for example I am on my bike alot & I like to use the GPS on my phone, so in order to have that the at&t tells me I have to also have the internet & I will be getting charged spreadably. Is there any carrier that have have the GPS includes the internet all in one future?

Was it possible?

My little sis is 18 years old. She met a guy a few months ago at the mall and they clicked. 5 days ago they met again at the mall and they have been inseparable since. She had given him her number but had a dead phone for months on end ~ so ~ after day 1 of meeting him – he stayed the night and it was ‘determined’ by day 2 that he would be staying with my parents. My sister has been depressed for a few years now, has had some other problems, and has been feeling a lot better since she’s met him. Its like he fills her with positivity/energy/goodness that helps her out.

So: He’s nice – but he’s 19 – rides a bike – has no job – however he says he’s had a few odd jobs and has had a nice @55 1972 chevy truck but that he crashed it. My first question (In my Head) was; why didn’t you get another cool vehicle when the insurance paid out. But you never know maybe his dad kept the money at the time "?" so i asked him if he had a license and he said no because he aced the written test – but failed the driving test because he ‘didn’t use his blinkers once’ – anyways – my sister sees something in this guy that makes her the happiest person in the world. They want to get married – have a family *one day* (but its like —- — OK get your OWN place before you get married – so if you get my sis knocked up the two of you are not living at my PARENTS house. Sorry for the caps you guys : /

I just stay out of it because I dint want to start a war. I like the guy for ‘who he is’ but its one of those things where you think that your sibling/kid/friend is going to marry someone as equally as good as them or better – and then they tank for someone lower. Im all for equality and how husband and wife should both equally contribute – its just – with expenses in this world – I dont think they could afford even trailer. And hey my sis is not picky. Its just too bad to lose my sister to a guy who may not be able to provide good/well for her/their kids. I’ve schooled my sis on birth control/education/family/marriage – but she’s on her own here, and is taking a laid back approach.

Should I just COMPLETELY stay out of it and let her be? No one advised/suggested when I was dating my husband. But – we worked, got our own place – havent even had children yet – so maybe I should just hush up??? I was just sort of appalled that he would ‘move in’ that quickly.

Even though his finances are not in order – he is really really nice to her and has helped her life in a positive way. I feel bad now for thinking like this. Although I have only been kind and loving towards both of them.

my cat refuses to poop in the litter box?

I have a ten year old. We shop at a thrift store that uses proceeds to fund a cat shelter. There was a cat that was leukemia positive. We saw the same cat for three months running. My boy wanted to adopt the cat because nobody else would adopt a sick cat and she needed a home too. His birthday came around and I told him I couldn’t afford both the bike he wanted and the cat. I thought I had dodged the bullet and not have to get a cat. I was wrong. He said the poor cat needs a home worse then he needs the bike. We now have a a really cute cat.

She was good for the first few days. Then she started pooping on the floor. As far as I can tell she is peeing in the litter box, but not pooping.

The exception is if there is a towel on the floor of the bathroom. She will pee on it many times.

We took her to the vet. She still will not come around me after getting her cornered into the carrier. That is a real frustration to me that she is scared of me, but anyway the vet found nothing wrong. We put her on medicine just in case there was something that just wasn’t showing up.

The cat is still pooping on my floor.

I have tried changing the litter back to what she had at the shelter, and we clean it as soon as we realize it has been used.

I hate to tell the kid that the cat he saved will have to go back, but I can’t have a cat crapping all over my house either. Either I find a way to get her to use the litter box, or she will have to leave. Any help would be great.

                  I sipped my mornings coffee
                  the window I stared through.
                  Asphalt same as yesterday
I wish I could change the view.

I saw a boy named Toby
he lives just up the street.
He spends more time pushing his bike
                  then sitting in the seat.

A group of kids raced past him
as he fumbled with his chain.
I remember being an eight year old
                  I felt this child’s pain.

My words “do you need a hand?”
were met with a six toothed smile.
We pushed it into my garage
                  we worked and talked awhile.

I learned he had a pet rabbit
Its name, I recall was Bear
that Bear, himself and his three sisters
                  all had reddish hair.

I straightened both of the rims
by turning each and every spoke.
I adjusted the seat and handlebars
As he told a knock knock joke.

He asked if I could make it go faster
my lecture on gear ratio brought a stare.
We searched my cabinet for lightning grease
I told him his next race wouldn’t be fair.

                  The bike all back together
we shook hands and said goodbye.
                  Now outside my window
a smiling streak of red …races by.
Dr h: Knock knock… who’s there? Dwayne Dwayne who?

                  Dwayne the bathtub, I’m dwowning
Happy Hiram: Yeah …it sounded okay in my head but not when I read it….Thanks for reading and your comment

I need to buy bungee cord for my town bike to secure items to my rear carrier (mostly bags and packages). Can anyone give me advice on what type of bungee cord I should get and if I should get more than one?

                                  Car Seat for a 4 year old….?

i am nanny for a family with a 4 year old girl I have been her nanny since she was 13 months old. She is 43 pounds and 41 inches tall. Everyone thinks shes about 6. She will be 5 in august.
Well she is still her car seat from when she was 14 months old.
she has been complaining a lot lately because the crotch strap is very uncomfortable for her. I was reading online about it and it says car seat is designed to transport a child who weighs up to 55 pounds.

I asked her mom about it and said should we get her a booster chair or something and she said no she will be in that seat until she grows out of it.
i was just wondering what everyone else thought.

oh and these parents are kinda…um they didnt want to potty train her because they said it was easier if she were in a diaper. she just recently got out of her crib and into a toddler bed. she has a "baby" bike that is WAY to small for her.
money isnt the issue they make A LOT of money.. the mom always brags to me about all the shopping trips she makes.

Asking for a number from a girl?

I’m relatively inexperienced with relationships, so if anything seems like common sense please don’t withold the info from me… (I’m one of the few naive ones who actually thought it was a good idea to wait until college to start trying)

So today I had a college orientation type deal to go to, and because its a downtown campus I bike everywhere. Which the hill just before the building we were to be orientated in made me considerably sweaty…

On the way into the building I met a cute girl whom I asked to confirm if this was the right building, and we eventually found out we were in the right place. I asked if I could sit next to her and chat and she agreed. We sat down got to know each other a tad bit (5min worth of convo maybe?) then the orientation started. She seemed friendly and etc. throughout the orientation, but for some reason was constantly looking down towards either her legs or my legs or something… I thought she was trying to convey something, but I had no idea what it could possibly mean so I just ignored it.

When the orientation ended, I asked if she had a cell phone yet (some of my friends talked about having to switch carriers and get a new cell phone) and she said yeah. I then asked if she wanted to trade numbers so maybe we could hang out sometime. I don’t remember the specific wording, because as a whole what she was saying is "no".

My intention was to become her friend, get to know her more, and then see if anything else could come out of it later down the road.

If she had even remote interest, would this have been too early to ask? Would my BO from biking have been a slight issue (I explained I had been biking and apologized for it though in the beginning too)? Also, what would the constant glancing at her legs possibly mean? (Like was she wary of me touching her legs or something?)

What’s worse though is afterwards she was waiting at the bus stop, and as I biked by (only way out, I would have gone a separate direction if at all possible) I heard her exchanging her number with a girl and saying "yeah I’ll text you later" or something like that…

So as I’m guessing, too early? or is there more issues with my conduct?
Responses to answers below (1: Rick 2: Me-Alli 3: kingslate)

-Well, my pits were fine, it was sweat on my back from my backpack (getting a messenger bag on thursday). However, I’ll remember not to say anything next time. I’m not sure how the BF thing comes into play since at this point in time all I’m interested in is being her friend.

-My issue is that considering its a huge campus the chances of meeting the person again are on the slim side which is why I asked, but I have no problem giving my number out… the only reason I didn’t is in the past I’ve been told that girls prefer the guy to establish contact… If she was nervous would it have been a bad idea to say something about it? Like "I know we aren’t too familiar with each other so I can understand you might be wary of me, but I’m not going to do anything so you don’t have to keep looking down at my legs *insert laughter*"… would that be an OK idea? At this point if I see her again, unless she forgets the matter, based upo
