I’m trying to do this without spending lots of money. I have a 98 honda civic.
The obvious (and expensive) answers are to get a hitch mount installed (like 0 or more) and buy a real motorcycle carrier thing (probably like 0 or more, I don’t know) OR get the hitch mount and a trailer (probably like 0 or 0).
My idea is to get a roof-mount bike rack, and just strap it down like a normal bike. I figure that a back mount bike rack wouldn’t be strong enough to hold the weight. Do you think that would work?
Has anyone done this or have any good ideas? Thanks so much!
How many of you mommies/daddies/caregivers have bike trailers/seats for your child/children? I am looking into getting a trailer, the kind that sits on the ground. My husband’s bday is today. I see a few on craigslist.

I am moving to Treasure Island in San Francisco and all I ride is a bicycle. I will be working in the city and plan to spend most of my time in the city. I have heard that there is a bicycle carrier type deal that transports your bike from Oakland to San Francisco. I mean I am just looking for a website for the times and dates. I am 22 years old. I have 2 great children. With whom I gained weight during pregnancy and never worked to take it off. I am now way past the point where I can call it baby fat!
I was doing great back in august. I was biking approx 5 days a week with my kids in the trailer. On my ‘off’ days I was keeping up with walking. I was eating well and choosing some vegetarian dishes.
This was all in the month my husband was away working. Once I moved to the new town with him it all went away. We fight quite a bit and it really brings me down. After he goes to work after we have a fight I just want to run to the kitchen and break out the chocolate, chips, ice cream, cheese…you name it.
Anyway we are slowly working on our problems. I also think I have hit ‘rock bottom’ with my weight. It make me sick what I have done to my body. I am ready to change and bring back the real me!!
So to kick things off I am starting with a simple cleanse. Eating lots of fresh fruits, veg, lean protein, healthy fats and whole grains/ I have cut out dairy, red meat and the typical "crap" during these 5 days.
I am going to keep up the same thing after…just add back the dairy. I think i may say goodbye to red meat for good.
As for activity I have just been walking. I am thinking of joining a gym this week. We only have one in town so ill be going to check it out tomorrow!
I have pretty much decided to get an SV650S as my first bike. Right now I am reasearching insurance coverages but am pretty much clueless. I don’t know what coverage to get. This will be my first bike and I have very little experience riding. I have taken an MSF course and live in Los Angeles Area. I guess I am not looking for a particular insurance carrier(although it will help), I am looking for an explanations of the coverages so I know what to get.

Okay, across the street from our house is a field. It’s fenced off, but there is a gate that you can see through. A family moved in the field and built this trailer type home almost a year ago. There are 3 children with their mom and dad.
The oldest looks about 7 or 8 years old, and the second oldest looks about 6 years old. The youngest looks about 3 years old.
So here’s the problem. I don’t think the two older kids go to school! I began noticing this a couple of months back. I thought they were on winter break, but it’s been too long. I always see them through the gate, riding bikes and playing. I really don’t think these kids are going to school.
I don’t want the kids to be taken away . . . I just want the kids to be in school! Should I call so an investigation can be made?
The one thing that makes me think they are not homeschooled, is that the mother speaks little english and the dad speaks okay, broken english.

I went to a bicycle shop and most of the bikes they sold are Trex bikes. Granted, they are great bikes, money is an object to me and spending 0 on a bike is hard to comprehend. Until I know for sure that getting a bike that expensive (to me) is the right move I considered going to Walmart and getting a bike there instead but walmart gets a lot of flack about their bikes. Are those bikes really that bad? And is it possible to find a bike at a major retailer that will accomidate my height?

I have a Honda Civic EX with a Spoiler on it. I need to buy a Carrier that is trunk mounted. Will this work on my car. It also has to bottom straps to hook to the bumper.
